Züri teilt is a community-driven sharing platform launched in May 2023 that allows Zurich residents to borrow everyday items from neighbors free of charge within a 300 m radius of their home :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}. Supported by the City of Zurich and run by the nonprofit Pumpipumpe, the app has grown to over 5 000 members and facilitated more than 800 item requests with nearly a 50 % fulfillment rate. Available on both Android and iOS, its user‑centric design makes it easy to post or respond to requests via in‑app chat and coordinate quick handovers. By prioritizing neighborly exchange and resource sharing over ownership, Züri teilt aims to curb unnecessary consumption, strengthen local community bonds and promote more sustainable urban living.

We did a comprehensive user‐engagement analysis, identifying 6 006 unique users, 1 562 listings and an 11.7 % match rate to pinpoint overall platform performance. We did a geographic breakdown of activity by zip code, revealing hotspots like 8004 and 8030 for targeted outreach campaigns. We did a proximity analysis showing that listings with more nearby users and chat requests had significantly higher match likelihood. We did time‐to‐match and time‐to‐first‐response studies, uncovering long median wait times and opportunities for improved notifications. We did a machine‑learning–based classification of listings into categories, physical vs. service items, and offers vs. requests to inform recommendation and moderation logic.
